About The Contemporary Wardrobe Collection
Contemporary Wardrobe was originally set up in 1978, by costume designer & stylist Roger K. Burton as a hire company to supply street fashion to the film & TV industry. Now in its 30th Anniversary year, the collection exceeds 15000 garments and includes definitive items from British and American youth cults as well as classic fashions from seminal boutiques such as Mr Freedom, Biba and Seditionaries, couture houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, and Givenchy. Over the years the collection has been used in many feature films such as Quadrophenia, Sid & Nancy, Absolute Beginners, Hackers and Stoned, and has been worn by literally hundreds of pop icons from David Bowie, Annie Lennox, George Harrison through to PJ Harvey, Richard Ashcroft, and Atomic Kitten.
The classic and cult value of this collection makes it a great source for many of today's eclectic and individualist street styles, as recognised by its use in current Feature Films, Music Videos, Fashion Magazines and Museums worldwide.

Our costumiers have an amazing knowledge of the period we deal in (1945 to the present day) and as a reference resource, we have built up a massive and comprehensive reference library over the past 25 years.
The Library consists of thousands of Specialist Books, period fashion magazines, catalogues, flyers, tear-sheets, photographs and films on DVD and video.
The Library covers every aspect of urban, club and street style through to high fashion, including character clothes, eccentricities, and even everyday work-wear.

Made to order : Tailoring & Dressmaking
We offer both a Tailoring & Dressmaking service to designers and stylists. We also offer a full design service if required.
All items are made under strict supervision and to the highest standard, we use only the finest makers who work in specialist fields. We are very used to working to tight production deadlines and with limited budgets. As each made-to-order garment is unique to a your specification, it is impossible to give a range of prices here. If your production needs something in a hurry, we can offer a very good - and in many cases - overnight courier service, to all four corners of the globe. This service is charged for separately and varies according to the size of the job.
